Dear Employment Practitioner

Updated: Oct 22, 2018

I totally Get you!

I totally get the frustration or nerves you feel in having to pick up the phone and call hundreds of strangers who are either rude or just have no time to listen to what you have to say.

I get how sometimes you have to build rapport with someone sitting across from you, but they don't like you. Why? Simply because centrelink forced them see you, otherwise their payments would stop.

I know the dreaded feeling of letting the employer down once again, because your jobseeker didn't show up to the interview.

I understand how it feels to be trying your best and having a manager on your back each day asking you the one dreaded question, "Do you have any job placements?” And having to pretend that you have a few in the pipeline.

But,

I also know the feeling of helping someone believe in them self again, when they had originally lost all hope.

I get how great it feels to help someone break through their barriers, whether it was mental health issues, bad interview techniques or helping them get a qualification.

I have also felt the joy when giving someone's resume a make over and seeing their eyes light up because they don't even know how to turn on a computer.

And nothing beats the satisfaction of helping someone who has been out of work for years, back into work and having them thank you through tears of joy for changing their life.

Although I eventually moved my way up through the ranks from employment practitioner into learning and development, and now have my own training company, I totally get you and where you're at and all the challenges and rewards.
